THANK YOU HENRY!
Henry Hiemenz was the first in Radnor to open the pool back in 1970. He started and coached what is today the Varsity RHS Swim/Dive Program and many other aquatics programs, including Radnor Aquatic Club and was involved in teaching swim curriculum at RHS too. He's left an amazing legacy which serves as the foundation for all things aquatics. He also hired Tom Robinson who served as the Head Varsity Boys coach for 38 years, retiring after the 2021/2022 season.
Henry's and Joyce's children and grandchildren surprised him with the new sign you see in the background. While the pool has been dedicated to Henry's namesake for many years, you can see the old sign (white banner) and the new permanent sign Henry Hiemenz Natatorium (in red).
Pictured here: Henry (in the black polo) with his wife Joyce and their 3 adult children: Chrisie Dougherty (7th grade RMS Science teacher), Henny Hiemenz, and Lisa Allen.
